Third observation, direct and indirect speech

Knowing this class was going to be the last time I was observed encouraged me to make use of everything I had learned from my teaching seminar and my tutors, who I highly appreciate every advice, suggestion and help.

The topic for this lesson was Direct and Indirect speech.
I wrote several expressions on the board and asked students what kind of person would use them in order to make them start thinking and using English .

The expressions were:

“You won’t watch any TV if you don’t finish your homework”

Ok, now open your mouth and say aaaa”

“Hello, how can I help you?”

“I want to thank all my fans for this amazing award!”

“Ladies and gentlemen please remain seated, we will be soon taking off”

Then, students listened to a short fable recording and were given the scripts from which they had to underline what the main characters said. After students finished, I proceeded to do the presentation of the topic.

I've learned that students who are aware of their learning process can retain information in an easier way. That's why I thought it would be good to explain when and why Direct and Indirect speech is used.

After finishing the enxplanation, students were given another handout to practice and mechanize the procedure of reporting different tenses into indirect speech. I found this quite useful as students were to use different tenses to report the sentences.

Then I told students to do an intervew with their partner pretending that one of them was the journalist and the other was a famous character. They were given some questions they would eventually report when I asked them what the interviewee had said.
