Feeling ready to start teaching English!

Teaching English has certainly been a joy to me and and it has given me immense satisfaction both on a personal and professional level. Since I took a English teaching course from the University, this gave me a deeper insight as to the various and newest English teaching strategies and methodologies available.

I have been teaching English for the past 2 years both in Colombia and in China which taught me how to adapt my teaching style to suit the student’s respective cultural background, social requirements and specific needs. I have had the opportunity to teach English for both children ranging from 3 years to adults. Although there is a great gap in the teaching style that should be used to teach this wide age range, I have found it a challenge to match my techniques of teaching English with the students’ capabilities. After all I have learned in my teaching practice, I feel that Colombian students are still in lack of opportunity to learn and practice English which is essential for them to improve their careers and gain access to the global community. With this aim in mind I have started to think on how to structure my English lessons very carefully. Applying English games, flash cards, English songs and stories in students' lessons will ensure they never get bored in a class.... :)
